Dear 3rd Grade Families

Welcome! We are so excited to begin an amazing 3rd-grade year with your wonderful children!   We want to take a moment to explain a few things about how our third-grade year will begin. Please take the time to carefully read this letter and do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions. It is our mission to make it a wonderful and engaging year for our students and families!

Communication- We want to stay connected with you! It is vital that we have accurate email addresses and phone numbers.  Please be sure the email address we are using is one that you see and/or visit often since it will play a significant role in communicating with you.

Health & Safety- Our number one priority is the health and safety of our students and colleagues. Please make sure to keep your child home if he or she is exhibiting any illness symptoms. Currently, masks are optional in the building. Multiple opportunities will be available for students to wash their hands throughout the day. Students will be staying with their grade-level cohorts during the day.

Arrival- Students will be allowed to enter the building at 8:00 a.m. and proceed to their classroom or to the cafeteria for breakfast. Car riders and walkers are encouraged to enter through the 3rd-grade door to promote social distancing. Bus riders will enter through the cafeteria door and use the back hallway for arrival. EDP (Extended Day Program) students will enter the building through the front door. The tardy bell will ring at 8:15 a.m. At that time, all doors will be closed, and students arriving late will go through the front door only. Please do not have children arrive at school earlier than 8:00 a.m., as there is no supervision until that time.

Departure- School will be dismissed at 2:57 p.m. Bus riders will be dismissed first from the classroom over the intercom. Walkers will be dismissed second and depart from the third-grade door. EDP will be dismissed third from the classroom and go directly to the cafeteria. Car riders will dismiss last and will exit the 3rd-grade door with a staff member. They will gather at the 3rd-grade spot around the front loop. For even more details, please read over the Arrival and Departure Form from Darnaby.

Breakfast and Lunch- Breakfast will be served starting at 8:00 a.m. in the cafeteria. 3rd Grade lunch begins at 12:05 p.m. Students will eat at designated classroom cohort tables in the cafeteria. They may bring a lunch from home or choose a hot lunch from the cafeteria.

Third grade is a wonderful year of academic, self, and social growth.  We are excited to partner with you for an amazing year!
