Overview:

Darnaby Art Factory will be back with an additional curriculum incorporating new equipment from Darnaby’s innovation lab. This after-school club will serve students from kindergarten all the way to fifth grade. We will separate grades into three sections and each section will meet on different days. Students who participate in Art Factory will get to engage in more in-depth art projects due to the smaller size of the class and the additional allotment of time. These smaller class sizes will also allow us to integrate new technology into the curriculum.

Overview:

One of our newest clubs launching next year is designed to engage our avid readers out there. Darnaby will be theming its first year's book club around the Harry Potter series, written by JK Rowling. During this yearlong club students will read through the series, have literary discussions, and even get to craft projects around books. Students who participate in Book Club should get ready for a magical experience.

How to sign up: Brainiac team determined by test given in class

Overview:

Students are chosen for Brainiacs from fourth and fifth grade after implementing a test across both grade levels. The top ten scorers from each grade will be given the opportunity to join the Brainiacs team. These students will dive into a variety of curriculum, expanding their knowledge in multiple subjects and increasing their ability to recall information in a competitive environment. Safety permitting, our Darnaby Brainiacs will be able to compete with schools both in and out of our school district.

Overview:

We are once again excited to bring back our Darnaby Chess Club. Chess is an amazing game that teaches students multiple disciplines including critical thinking, tactics, and strategy. Chess club serves a large multitude of students ranging from 1st to 5th grade. The club serves students at all playing levels and culminates in a districtwide tournament in May.

Overview:

Darnaby Diggers is back, and we are excited about our school garden and what that amazing learning environment means for our students. Our students have loved getting dirty and learning about many types of science like Biology and Earth Science. Students plant, cultivate, and harvest the produce that comes out of the garden. Students will also get to learn about new concepts like composting and hydroponics.

Overview:

Elements Science Club focuses on showing our students the many areas of study within the science community. This year our students will be turning our focus to the creatures we share the earth with, and the medical community charged with taking care of them. Students in Elements will get to learn directly from a marine biologist, an ER veterinarian, and even get to interact with different animals.

Overview:

KDES, Darnaby’s school broadcast will continue to provide prerecorded episodes that teachers can access from our school website. In KDES,  students will write, record, and produce all the media content used on the broadcast. This year’s KDES students will also be taking on designing the yearbook.

Overview:

Darnaby is excited to offer our second tier of Ranger Robotics, LittleBots again. This program gives our 2nd and 3rd grade students their first opportunity to start building with VEX pieces and an introduction to the wide world of coding. We will be adding a sister club to LittleBots with a circuitry curriculum called LittleBits. Students who sign up for this combination of clubs will spend half of the semester learning one concept and then switch teachers and curriculum for the remainder of the semester.

Overview: 

Ranger Robotics will look a little different this year. Instead of focusing just on the competition that VEX IQ offers, Ranger Robotics will be looking to give students a deeper understanding of coding and building through the new VEX IQ STEM Labs. These labs work through many unique concepts such as gear ratio, mechanical advantage, center of mass, and more. Sponsors will then choose a competitive team based on aptitude and hard work showcased by students during these lessons.

Overview:

Another after-school club focused on Fine Arts, our Rangers & Co. Club will give students an opportunity to explore their love of music. Supporting our 4th and 5th grade students, this club will act as our school choir and students will gain more knowledge of the musical world around them.

Overview:

Rounding out Darnaby’s after-school programs with a focus on health and wellness, Science Fitness will give students the ability to learn the science behind the body and how to increase athletic performance. Not only will the club meet after school to run, learn about nutrition, and explore the science behind athletes' reaction times, but students will also be training to participate in local runs and build a sense of community alongside other runners.

Overview:

Do you love math? Do you love cooking? If you answered yes, then we have a club for you. Darnaby’s STEM in the Kitchen will be exploring how math plays into cooking and other technical advancements that have elevated how we make our food. Our amazing PTA has purchased us cooking equipment that will allow students to work through a recipe almost every week.

Overview:

Our STUCO club provides many services to our school and to our community at large. With a focus on leadership and community services, students who participate in this club learn many valuable skills that will last them well into their future. Every semester STUCO provides a community service project for the whole school to participate in. On top of that, STUCO also oversees our Recycling Team which works to reduce Darnaby’s environmental footprint.

Tech Club students will be asked to not only learn multiple design software but they will also be asked to solve real-world problems with their newfound knowledge.
